Having performed music together for many years, pianist Rob Thaller and saxophonist/vocalist Joanna Reynolds-Thaller are thrilled to bring their talented teens Maddy and Kendra along for the ride.
The Thaller Family Klezmer Band is the result of a long time dream to create and perform together as a family. Between them there is a wide range of musical taste and interests that you'll hear reflected in their music. From classical to jazz to pop, it all gets blended with the infectious rhythms of Klezmer. Rob's quirky sense of humour and talent for arranging make for a very entertaining performance that will appeal to music fans of all ages.
Rob Thaller- born and raised in Saskatoon, SK, Rob has been working as a pianist in the Toronto area for more that 20 years. While his main interest is in jazz, Rob has performed in many different genres including classical, Latin American and African. Rob has a Bachelors degree in music performance from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters in jazz performance from the Eastman School of Music. Rob works full time as an accompanist at the National Ballet School. Rob is thrilled to be able to incorporate his skill of playing trumpet and keyboard at the same time into this project!
Joanna Reynolds- Joanna has been performing in clubs and at private and corporate events in the GTA for more than 20 years. A versatile musician, Joanna plays woodwinds- saxophone, flute, clarinet and is also a vocalist. Her B.mus.Arts is from the University of Western Ontario, as well, Joanna completed the jazz performance diploma program at Humber College. A devoted mother to her teenage daughters she is very happy to be sharing the stage with them.
Madeline Thaller- is currently attending an arts high school doing a double major of Music (double bass) and Musical Theatre. She has been taking music and dance classes since kindergarten. A natural singer, Maddy began formal voice training last year.
Kendra Thaller is currently in grade 8. Kendra’s busy schedule includes dance classes 4 nights a week, violin lessons and voice lessons. Kendra will be attending an arts high school in the fall as a music theatre major.
